Ullman Sails customers come up BIG at Little Ensenada Race!!

San Diego, CA -Ensenada, Mexico

Southwestern Yacht Club's 2008 Little Ensenada Race had 93 racers heading south to Taco Town. Most of the boats finished early enough for last call at their favorite watering hole to celebrate another race to Ensenada. The wind and racing was not too tricky until the transition in the bay at the finish; just fast sailing was the recipe for good results. Ullman Sails customers had the right ingredients (fast sails) for a great recipe and scored big in the different PHRF and One Design Classes.
Jack Taylor's crew sailed the SC-50 "Horizon" (click here for Horizon's race report) to a repeat victory in PHRF Class "1" beating many of the hometown favorites. "Horizon" races with 100% Ullman Sails from Newport Beach using carbon GPL and D4 upwind sails and AirX nylon for their asymmetric spinnakers.

John Laun skippered his J/120 "CAPER" to a first place in the J/120 class. "CAPER" also races with 100% Ullman Sails with carbon GPL upwind sails and AirX nylon as well. "CAPER" has been racing with Ullman Sails since her first races and is still the boat to beat on the buoys and offshore!
PHRF Class "3" had the most entries with 34. This was a huge class and very competitive. Ullman Sails customers with Flying Tiger 10M's took FT-10M line honors and corrected 2nd in class! "Occam's Razor" skippered by Joe Markee and Neil Senturian crossed the line first first, but were assessed a 1 hour penalty for a OCS at the start gun and "Mile High Klub" skippered by Phillip and Payson Infelise corrected to 2nd in class and was 4th across the line! Both boats sailed with 100% Ullman Sails and used FiberPath upwind sails and AirX nylon asymmetric spinnakers!
P.K. and Vance Edward's Catalina 42 "Wind Dancer" races with 100% Ullman Sails and took home the first place trophy for PHRF Class "4". Gary Swenson's Ullman Sails loft in Ventura takes care of "Wind Dancer's" race sails. P.K. and Vance's carbon GPL main sail has been raced to Hawaii twice and into deep Mexico almost a half dozen times and is still winning races. "Wind Dancer" also runs with FiberPath headsails and AirX nylon spinnakers!

"Casamar" a Catalina 30 skippered by David Baer sailed to almost a 30-minute victory in PHRF Class "5". David sails with 100% Ullman Sails from the San Diego loft run by Kathy O'Brien and Chuck Skewes.
