Sunkist Series #4 Outside Course

Newport Beach, California

The rain came and went, the wind came and stayed. Racers enjoyed perfect 10-12 knot winds for Balboa Yacht Club's Sunkist Series #4. Many of the PHRF classes had the top spots up for grabs in their class's and Sunday's race would determine the podium position. Class "A" had IT'S OK and Radical Departure going head to head with IT'S OK beating Radical on the tie breaker! IT'S OK sails with a partial inventory from Ullman Sails.

AMANTE dominated Class B with straight bullets all four races! Maybe AMANTE can use this speed to bring home the "silver" in the upcoming Newport-CABO race!? Good Luck! Scavenger, Bill Taylor's R/P 42 was a solid second place for the series beating their nemesis "Reliance" handily on Sunday. Both AMANTE and Scavenger sail with inventories from Ullman Sails!

Class C was up for grabs going into Sunday, Double Time, Legacy, and Whistler were in a 3-way tie for first. Legacy led race #4 from start to finish and thought victory was at hand (by 1 second corrected over Double Time), but the official resultes showed a tie on corrected time with Double Time. The RC took the time out to the hundredths position and the time was still the same. BYC handed out two first place finishes and gave Double Time the Series trophy for beating Legacy back during race #3! Close finish!

CHA CHA CHA took class D with consistent finishes in the top three all series.Pussy Cat was the winner of Class E finishing just ahead of ELAN and CAMPAIGN II who sail with Ullman Sail inventories.
