2009 Rolex Big Boat Series & Ullman Sails

San Francisco, CA
Ullman Sails customers raced in the 2009 Big Boat Series with hope of big breeze and big victories. The breeze never kicked in with any real "thunder", but the Ullman customers charged ahead with top finishes! The Ullman Sails Newport Beach team of Steve Beck, Jeff Nelson and Bruce Cooper were on standby at StFYC to do overnight sail repair for J-105 & J-120 customers, but only had 5 repairs from other sailmaker's all weekend!
The Ullman Sails customers did very well and had no problems with their sails. Kjeld Hestehave's Tanton 72 "Velos" from San Diego scored 6 wins and easily won IRC "B" class. "Velos" sailed with GPL Carbon upwind sails and AirX downwind sails. Mick Shlen's Express 37 "Blade Runner" from Cabrillo Beach YC won 3 races and placed 2nd overall in the always competitive Express 37 class. "Blade Runner" also uses GPL Carbon upwind sails and AirX downwind sails.

Adam Spiegel's J/105 "Jam Session" from Treasure Island Sailing Club showed great downwind speed with 2 victories in the J/105 class. "Jam Session" sails with the AirX AP spinnaker!

Ullman's Erik Shampain raced on Tim Fuller's J/122 "Resolute" and finished 3rd overall in IRC "C" Class, while JB Cianciarulo from Ullman Sails NB crewed on Chris Welsh's beautiful and classec Spencer 65 "Ragtime".

Ullman Sails customers will now benefit from local service provided by Ullman Sails Newport Beach's new dealer Robin Sodaro. Robin has a loft in Saulsalito, CA. Ullman customers who visit the Bay Area for racing and local racers will have great service, sails and expertise from Robin and his talented wife Vicki!
