WINNER! Melges 24 GOLD CUP at Traverse City

Alan Fields ‘WTF’ Team took the top honors at the 2009 Traverse City Melges 24 Gold Cup! Using an all upwind inventory from Ullman Sails, Field and crew won eight out of nine races in the 26 boat fleet. The 'WTF' team won the regatta by in impressive 23 points! Team 'WTF' is preparing for the upcoming 2009 Melges World Championships in Annapolis, MD, way to go guys!! (BTW...Alan and Team 'WTF' are the poster boys and girl for the 2009 Melges 24 Worlds, check it out below!)
The two day regatta saw all conditions. Saturday featured wet and fun plaining conditions all day while Sunday was very light and shifty. The new Grand Traverse Yacht Club was great and with the help of local hero and fellow Melges 24 owner, Mike Dow and crew, who hosted a great regatta. To cap off a great weekend of fun and racing, Alan Field representing California Yacht Club exchanged burgees with the newly re-built Grand Traverse Yacht Club at the close of the awards winner.
