Champagne Race - Warm Up Report

by Bruce Cooper

Another year of racing is almost past us with lots of good racing and new boats in Acapulco. The CYA racers end the racing season with the annual Champagne Race in December, there is lots to celebrate this year.

For starters, There are more Farr 40's in the boat yard than anyother type of boat and a beautiful fleet of 4 TP-52's as well. The cruising fleet has been steady and showing great improvement with potential of adding some more boats for next year. The last month race was very nice wind from Zihuatanejo to Acapulco, if you missed it here is a race video from the TP-52 Patches.

2013 saw some out of town racing with Vincitore placing 3rd in the TransPac Race and Flojito y Cooperando racing in lots of East Coast Farr 40 regatta's ending their 2013 North America campain with the Farr 40 Worlds in Newport Rhode Island, good job and thanks for representing Mexico you guys (and gals).

We still have the December race this weekend, but many boats are already getting ready for 2014. San Diego to Puerto Vallarta is the lead-in race for MEXORC. MEXORC looks to provide the same great racing with a switch in harbors to give the sailors and friends some warm Puerto Vallarta hospitality! Ullman Sails is a sponsor for the 2014 MEXORC, let us know how we can get you ready for an amazing week of sailing!
