Good day of sailing in Dana Point for the DPYC Series #6. The 13.2 mile course was fast & easy with 9-11 knots of wind with tight reaching legs.
The "A" fleet boats favored the pin end for the start but the boats that went right first made gains on a nice right shift. In the "B" fleet the same strategy paid as the Olson 30 White Lightning was first around A mark.
Olson 30's are a popular boat for this area and both White Lightning and Grey Goose had some close tough racing with a few lead changes. It came down to one mark rounding and White Lightning managed to get out to a slender lead and hold it throughout the final leg.
Bruce Cooper, on board the C&C 121 Anasazi had a great race powering around the course just behind the lighter sport boats. They made had good crew work and fast new sails.
